Ari has been Yellow's vassal for a long time now. Enough sleeps to have been a few decades, maybe. He's gotten to know this world quite well in that time. He's almost fond of it; not as nice as Vancouver, maybe, but better than most of the Nevernever, and Yellow is better than most of the Sidhe. He's wormed his way into some very nice privileges, as well. (It helps that most of them are either innocuous or directly beneficial to Yellow himself, like learning sorcery or never wearing clothes again.)

Currently he's exercising one of those for a trip to the library for a book on harmonics. Or, rather, he's returning from it. With the book. It's a good book, lots of useful words about things.

"Works for me. Incidentally, have I mentioned you're very pretty?"

"I don't think you did!"

"Well, you're very pretty. And we're reasonably likely to be living together, and you have wonderful socks, so I have to ask, how d'you feel about sex?"

"My socks are the best socks," she says. "I... dunno how I feel about sex. I've never had any that wasn't, you know, Jeff."

"Ech. Nobody deserves that."

"Probably not."

[bitterchill]

"I can offer my services as a palate cleanser. Or, y'know, I can stop talking about it. One of those, at your discretion."

Secret giggles, which is not quite an answer.

"...Right then. Feel free to think on it. I'll be waiting patiently til you make a decision, being conspicuously pretty and not wearing clothes."

"You are very pretty."

[bitterchill]

"Thank you! You know, people here so often just don't mention that sort of thing, it's very rude. It's gratifying to have outside input."

Giggle.

"And you're cute!"

"Flattery! My only weakness!"

"Adooorable."

[bitterchill]

He wriggles delightedly.

"Adooooooorable," giggles Secret.

[bitterchill]

Is that Yellow's house? That's Yellow's house. "If I make you invisible, can you sneak into my room and find my name? There's only the one flowerpot, the name's under all the dirt."

"Yeah, probably. Where's your room?"

Ari points it out. The windowsill is studded with shiny rocks; it's distinctive.

"Mkay. I can do that, I bet."

[bitterchill]

"If you drop me behind the treeline, I'll go in business-as-usual and you can get the name. Say something when you've got it so I know when to drop Yellow."

[feel_so_free]

"Okay."

[bitterchill]

Once so dropped, Ari invisibles Secret, then walks into the house holding the book and grinning. "Found it! They took the collateral, like I thought."

And in sneaks Secret, and she makes her careful way to the flowerpot, holding her wings still so as not to trail incriminating dust.

Ari maintains distracting conversation with a mostly bored Yellow. (If it were anyone but Ari, this level of chipperness would be suspicious. It is not suspicious for Ari.)
