The same isn't true about the wind.

Witches aren't troubled by the cold, but the same isn't true about the wind.
Temperance wasn't afraid of falling from her brand new cloudpine branch, but she might drop her books and that was nearly as bad. She decided to land until the weather quieted down.
Instead of quieting it down, the weather got worse, snow started falling and it was hard to navigate even with Faramund covering her with his wings.
Temperance didn't hear anything, just saw a glimpse of the thing, just enough for her brain to register the combination of snake and mirror and...
...then she found herself under warm sunlight, feeling a gentle breeze over her skin. Blinking away the sudden light and the melting snow in her eyes, she found herself surrounded by a green woodland that was too warm to be anywhere near she remembered being.
In short, Temperance and her daemon were very confused.

It's a couple of hours later when Edie sends 'He said yes.' Pause. 'Mama looks like someone just punched her in the solar plexus. I think I'm going to have to run interference to keep her from treating you like she sometimes does Hank. How long is this likely to take?'

'That shouldn't be necessary. Sometimes when Hank is working on a project Mama gets on his case about having it done sooner rather than later. Mama might need a few reminders about why it would be a bad idea to do that with you, is all.'
pause
'Also I think Hank might want to take readings and other Hank stuff.'

'He might possibly want to try to put cables on you, while you're doing lower-stakes casting, to see if he can measure magic or something. I'm not sure, I'm not Hank.'

'I saw the tech levels in your world. In most cases you're as far ahead of us as one would expect from the fact that you're three and a half decades ahead, but I know Hank has some stuff that you don't--your world doesn't have anything remotely like Cerebro, for instance. I don't know that he won't be disappointed, but I also don't think it's guaranteed for sure.'

'I like your expletives, they're so poetic. I'm having a hard time imagining being in your shoes, because of course if I was thirty-five years back in time in another universe my immediate reaction would be to go rescue that world's version of Mama and then shut down the rest of the Holocaust even if it meant doing things with my telepathy that I normally avoid because ethics exist.'

'Hey, I'm not criticizing. Magic sounds lovely. I know so much about the relevant history because my mother lived it, not out of any particular studious tendencies. ...In that area, anyway, I do quite well in my classes'
amusementdelight blooms lightly at the initial oath.

'Well, you are staying at a school. You could probably enroll in some classes while you're here if you want. Say, how old are you anyway? I don't think I asked.'

'A lot of classes aren't dependent on grade level, and I suspect it will be even more so for you, considering the circumstances.'
'Seventeen? So we're the same age then.'

Donna can complete the spell, but it isn't nearly as effortless as most pattern-finding is to her. Sally-Anne's imperceptibility bounces off the mental ward, and Sophie can't get past it, although she can still tell that Temperance's mind is there, unlike with The Helmet.
If Temperance cares to test her mental ward against Edie or the Professor, it may become apparent that they can get past it with some work, but it's a nontrivial defense even so.
Edie offers to run a daemon simulation--creating an illusory animal and assigning it a portion of her social tasks--in order to make Temperance feel more at ease.

'Awesome!' pause. 'How soon can you perform it, and exactly what materials do you need for it?' pause. 'Emily is doing a ridiculous little victory dance, it's adorable.'

Edie sends her an impression of Emily doing a ridiculous little victory dance. It involves several metal objects flying around her.
