No Such Thing as Super-Heroes

There is someone in her forest.

Flynn runs her hand over her creature's back, and then sends it fluttering away into the trees with a flick of her wrist.


Her first creation, her guardian, lets out a small growl.
"I know," Flynn says.
"Go. Get rid of them."

It slinks into the forest, feline features molded from broken glass.
It quickly vanishes from site and Flynn pushes down a flash of loneliness.

"I really miss sleeping in a bed."

"Where have you been sleeping?" Henry says "Did you have any plans for the winter... or the future?" he adds before Gabe could add something potentially offensive.

"They dug me a hole," Flynn says, gesturing to her creatures. "I figured I'd deal with the winter when it got here."

"That... sounds extremely precarious," Henry says "dangerously precarious... Can I... Do you have a family?"

"Technically, yes."
Flynn glances away, "but no, not really."

"We... I might understand what that is like, I know it sucks" Henry says "what happened exactly?"

"My dad went batshit. My mom decided that meant she could go batshit too. One day it got really bad and I somehow created A. Then I left."

Henry could almost feel Gabe wanting to make a comment on her sanity and start a fight. Henry discreetly waves to keep him quiet.

"A?" Henry asks "your first creation?"

"I'm not very good at making up names."

"Have you kept the alphabetic theme?" Henry asks with a smirk.

It feels a bit weird to smirk given what happened earlier, but it looks natural.

"I have! I guess this one would be K," Flynn pats their mount's side.

"What the adorable bird is called?" Henry asks.

"It's C. I made it when I was looking for somewhere to go."

They have reached the hotel by now, the gates and doors are open, like if they have been left in a hurry.

"So..." Henry says "welcome to our humble home. Do you want to eat? or take a shower first? I really want to talk but it can wait after you get a night of sleep first."

"Food, food would be great. Do you have any chocolate?"

"Gabe you should take a shower," Henry says "We have chocolate bars, hot chocolate, and a few stale chocolate cookies, sorry for the lack of better selection.

Gabe raises an eyebrow, but doesn't comment.

"You stink." Flynn says, "But I'm sure I stink much worse than your."

[there_is_no_such_thing_as]

"You should at least wash your hands..." Herny adds "and your face. The female locker room is in that direction."

Henry points at the opposite direction that Gabe went.

"Ok, sure. See you in a bit."

Meanwhile, Henry will talk with Gabe, finding his cousin stripping off his dirty clothes, the water running already. Henry forgot to warn Flynn that the water starts extremely hot (some quirky caused by the lack of patrons).

Henry waits quietly for Gabe's reply.

Gabe gets inside the shower and lets the water to pour all over himself before turning around and speaking.

"What are you trying to do?" Gabe asks turning to face him but with eyes closed under the shower.

Henry suddenly notices that he still with the rifle. Putting it aside he speaks.

"I am checking on you..." Henry says defensively.

"I mean with that crazy monster lady," Gabe says "You are not like this, even if you were just trying to draw information out of her.

He turns around and lets the hot water hit him in the face.

"I almost think you don't care." He adds mockingly.

"Fuck!" Henry says wounded.

Uncaring about the shower and his own clothes, Henry steps forward and hugs his cousin.

"You almost died," Henry says burying his face on Gabe's chest "I can't even begging to..."
