Temperance wouldn't expect her magic to be capable of transporting people between worlds. But she stood here in this new world as a living proof. She still had no explanation to what that creature was, but she couldn’t argue it was the reason she was here. Temperance tried to figured out a divination to look into the past of other worlds, to understand the creature better, but failed. She tried one to look at her own past, but had only marginal success.

Next she tries to create a spell to travel between worlds while also doing a few side projects. Very small stuff when compared to the great healing ritual, mostly to build a spell library of her own.

Temperance’s side projects are completed and replaced. She starts doing magical favors for the Institute and eventually gets a small room to work as her office (mostly because Sophie didn’t like people knocking on their door). Temperance wrote down everything she knew about the next three decades and a half. She starts a new herb garden for herself. The second wave of side projects is completed.

The interworld travel spell project made no advances of any kind.

It was time to consider other alternatives, maybe there are things her magic can't do after all. Edie suggested science next.

One day Dr. Hank McCoy might hear a knock at the door.

Even so; the initial process took place over the course of a long time, and the Professor is taking absolutely no chances. It's going to be several hours before Franklyn is restored to his original state.

At some point Arya sits down and falls asleep. Ezra comes by and sits next to her, he tries and fails to read a book and eventually falls asleep too.

After a couple of hours Meghan asks for something to eat and drink. She also takes a bathroom break, but otherwise stays put.

Meghan gets a glass of water and something that isn't going to make a mess to eat. And eventually, finally, all the alterations to Franklyn have been removed.

"Are you going to wake him up?" Meghan asks.

"Right now, it's better to let him sleep for a while," Charles says. "He's perfectly healthy, but this much change has exhausted his system."

Meghan nods, her face pained.

"What do I do now?"

"Right now, there isn't much to be done. It's getting late. I know you slept on the Blackbird, but everyone else is going to need some rest before they're functional again."

"Okay," Meghan responds then after a moment she adds "Could I eat more and take a shower?"

"Of course. Do you want me to show you the way, or would you rather be alone," he asks.

"You can show me, but I don't need company"

There is a smallish pantry separate from the dining hall for when students need between meals snacks (and with some of the odd metabolisms that come through, that is sometimes a need and not a want). Charles shows her the way there and then gives her directions to a bathroom with showers and travel toiletries.

Meghan goes there, and tastes a bit of everything, distracting herself a bit before making a sandwich. She fills herself further with some jam and toasts.

She doesn't have another set of clothes, is there anyone that can give her new clothes before she showers?

Edie will lend her some. She's very quiet, not quite able to meet Meghan's eyes.

Meghan accepts the clothes, but gets annoyed when she notices weird Edie's behavior.

"Do you have a problem?"

"I am very angry," she murmurs. "And when I'm this angry I try to keep myself as--under control--as possible, so I don't hurt anyone by accident."

This explanation relaxes Meghan a little.

"Okay, thank you for the clothes," Meghan says trying to sound grateful, but her voice is too rash even for herself, so she adds conversationally "So what happened?"

"I'm friends with your...half siblings. I was there when Temperance met Ezra and Arya. Mother told me about what happened when you all got back. And what happened was. Not okay."

"Not okay," Meghan repeats in a tone between agreeableness and acidity "but... why does that matter to you?"

"Because it's awful and it shouldn't happen and people like him shouldn't ought to exist," she hisses, her voice going dark near the end.

"Yes," she says "but why are you so mad? I wouldn't be that mad if..."

...Meghan pauses then says "Actually I would be very mad... Sorry."

"It's fine," she says, getting her voice under control again.

"I should shower. Thanks again... for the clothes," her voice is considerable softer than before.

"You're welcome. I should...get to bed, probably."
