School Hard

Here is Juliette sitting all by her lonesome in the Sunnydale Highschool cafeteria. Every other table is full, and there are some kids standing, but no one seems too keen on asking her for a seat.

Lunch today is mac and cheese with a side of lettuce.

"Anthony," He offers his hand "but call me Ezra, it is my middle name."

She shakes his hand, faux-seriously. Then giggles a little, and lets go.

"How long have you known about the things that go bump in the night?"

Ezra takes a pause to think, making it look like he is trying to remember

"A week after we moved. A friend of a friend came to visit and explained about the high rate of nightly bumps."

[fourthwish]

"Oh, that's really recent. I've known since I was a kid, my mom is a witch too. Have you thought about learning the craft, or is it just curiosity?" She mentions towards the books he is slowly collecting.

[superego_medico]

"A bit of both? It depends how complicated it gets, at the moment I am doing research on souls and minds, because affecting then freaks me out."

[fourthwish]

"Freaks you out?"

[superego_medico]

"Well... yes? I don't know how other people don't. I mean vampirism..."

[fourthwish]

"I mean, yes, vampires scare the crap out of me. But I don't think I've ever really focused on the specifics of it. Dying and having a demon replacing you in your body. The whole soullessness is kind of a crappy side effect in a sea of crappy side effects."

She shivers. "At least I have my magic to protect me."

[superego_medico]

"If you had asked me a month ago, I would have told you that a person and their memories are one and the same. Except vampires are real, and despite knowing souls are at play it still feels like vampirism means that you come back from the dead... except wrong."

"Sorry, I am not usually this morbid. I am glad you can protect yourself."
