The gate opens in an small space. Through a doorway ahead is a mid-sized room, scattered with chairs. One wall, directly across from the doorway to the incoming gates area, is made of some clear material. On the other side of it is another room, with a metallic floor raised slightly above the first one's, with a half-dozen complex diagrams and space for many more.

The way into there appears to be through a decontamination room to the left. There is a door on the right into the rest of the base. Embedded in the wall to the left is the door to the outgoing gate area.

Both rooms are windowless and otherwise minimally decorated.

(Observant guests may note that the gravity is about a third of what they are used to.)

"Aside from warning people? Breaking the ward is probably beyond us for the moment, as all our mana stores are earmarked for use against the TITANic incursion. But it might be possible to do something subtle to work around it..." Chibisilian blurs for a minute, splitting off a fork of his own to think about the problem.

Shaking his head: "A properly designed infoward will ward its own existence, which means that sensors will be fooled into thinking that, rather that 'nothing is there', that 'everything is normal and uninteresting'." Stopping for a moment, he frowns. "But... the TITANs don't have all the runes yet. With only Light of Eclipse's unique runes, they probably can't make a properly designed infoward yet. So it might be worth a shot."

"That portal could have crossed worlds if and only if there was an agent on this end, and it could not have crossed Truths at all."

"Warnings are going out," Tyche says. Pause, as the relevant fork updates zir. "...there's a Case Asturias Black Flag Scenario alert, now. I can forward that to the forum, too -- in private messages, in case the TITANs can see the public forum, or become able to."

Ze is silent for a moment. "Are we certain they only have Light? Do you have thoughts about the most efficient way to do that check?"

"...and we need to check for infiltrators," ze adds, after a moment, with a sigh. "Thorn would be--" Ze breaks off, and busies zirself with the maps.

Thorn notices this. "I will be back in a minute," she says.

He sits in a nearby chair to wait for her to come back.

After a few minutes, she does indeed return. She has adjusted her clothes to be somewhat more comfortable while she was gone, and is wearing a new shiny black tight necklace, with an orange topaz set in the pendant. She looks drained (as opposed to the tired she looked earlier), and distracted, and she stops for a moment after stepping back in to press her fingers against her forehead.

He smiles and waves again, but stops when he sees her face and the necklace. "Thorn? Are you okay?"

"Hm?" She blinks at him, and then, after a moment, wearily. "...I will be, I think."

"... Good. What's that?" he gestures at the necklace.

Her hand goes to the necklace. "Um," she says, concisely, and then seems to search for something to say after that.

He frowns. "Thorn. Can you take that necklace off?"

Thorn gives him a deeply puzzled look, but upon noticing his expression fairly quickly (if somewhat bewilderedly) removes the necklace. It pools in her hand as she continues to look at him puzzledly.

Steve doesn't take his eyes off the necklace. "Can you put it down?"

Yes, that is a very puzzled expression. But he is worried, not... whatever he might be if he was planning something... and anyway it is not as if...

She steps over to the nearby table and places it on that (as she does so, the aesthetic changes to a more iron-and-thorns one), scanning the room with mostly habitual nervousness before looking back at him. "Could you please explain what is going on now?"

He eyes it with deep suspicion when it changes shapes. "You came back wearing different clothes and a new necklace, and looked a lot more tired and maybe hurt? And look at it now."

Thorn blinks at him. She holds out one arm, and focuses: that sleeve rapidly changes between shapes and patterns, eventually settling back on the one it was in when she came back in. "The necklace seems to go back to default when I am not telling it what to look like -- that was how it looked to start with." She pauses for a moment to see if he responds.

He gives the iron-spiked rose-decorated clearly evil necklace a slightly appalled look. "It changes shape, and automatically looks like that. And you were wearing it. Are you missing any time, have your feelings been acting different than usual?"

Thorn continues to look bewildered, but thinks about this. After a little while: "I am not missing any time -- although I expect I would have noticed that immediately. I, also do not have any, irregularities in my memories or emotions. Please explain?"

Steve sighs in relief. "Okay good. So you're probably not possessed. I wanted to make sure."

"...possessed." Thorn says flatly. Well. This is apparently an Eventide thing. "--I am not possessed," she agrees.

...Does he look okay?

He was fairly distressed, though, she remembers. "...um. Have you looked at the forums since we got here?"

...she would pick the necklace back up, but based on the way he is still watching it warily she thinks that might get objections.
