She's at the lead of a formation of six Witches, flying her metal not-quite-a-broom out on a routine patrol. She carries her bow, sword, quiver of arrows, four loaded flintlock pistols, two pot-bombs. The usual loadout.

What she finds is not any alien invader she's familiar with. It's a flying snake with a mirror for a head.

"Pull up! It's faster than us, so use formation wagon-wheel!" Bows come out, and arrows fly at it, but they bounce uselessly off its mirror-head and scales. After a few minutes of this she charges in, drops one of her pot-bombs on it at point blank range, then pulls a roll to dodge as it charges past, but not fast enough-

And she's somewhere else entirely.

The somewhere else is the sky over a collection of buildings mostly surrounded by forest. Depending on her experience she may or may not be able to identify this as a university campus.

She circles around sharply a few times, trying to locate and identify threats. Then the swearing starts. It continues for a while.

Eventually she finds a decent-sized flat field, preferably not in the middle of the buildings, and lands.

The forest is pretty dense, but there's an athletic field attached to the school.

As long as there are currently no people on it, she lands. It's a bit of a process, swooping low and slow enough that she doesn't break anything when the not-broom loses lift.

There is no one on it, at the moment. There are some people nearby, a handful of which choose to gawk at her, but none of them are on the field.

She unstrings her bow and sheaths it, takes the flints and fuses out of her other weapons, and sets to packing the not-broom into its storage configuration. It still weighs about as much as a motorcycle, but she shoulders it easily and starts walking over to the people.

Her uniform may look... Strange. Like it belongs in the Napoleonic era, or even further back.

Once she's landed and put her broom away, people will mostly stop staring. If she approaches them, they'll greet her politely but not give her unusual notice.

She asks one of them, "Do you know where I am, and where the nearest Neuroi watchtower is?"

"Uh, this is Borgia University in Pennsylvania. What's a Neuroi watchtower?"

"What's a- The Neuroi, the alien invaders that glassed most of Greece and Ostmark? I must be further from home than I thought if you've never heard of them."

[maggie_of_the_owls]

"Greece is fine, last time I checked. Dunno what Ostmark is, though."

[characterquarry]

"Ostmark, the country between Karlsland and Romanga? No, I think that... Snake thing... Has put me into an entirely different world. Lovely."

[maggie_of_the_owls]

"Snake thing? Never heard of Karlsland or Romanga either, so you may in fact be a visitor from another dimension. Lovely." He takes off his glasses and starts cleaning them.

"I... Need to store my broom and weapons. Who should I speak to about that?"

[maggie_of_the_owls]

"There isn't actually a university function for housing strange women from alternate dimensions but luckily things stranger than that happen to me and my friends all the time. I'm sure I can find someone to put you up." Glasses go back on face. "My name's Cecil, by the way, what's yours?"

"Major Annette Gepard."

[maggie_of_the_owls]

"Ah. Military. Do you have any idea how you got here or how you might get back?"

[characterquarry]

"My flight was attacked by a flying snake with a mirror for a head. I dive-bombed it, but when I touched the thing I was suddenly above this university. I have no clue how to get back, unfortunately, teleportation is not a thing my sort of magic can do."

[maggie_of_the_owls]

"Mm. I know my world's magic can do teleportation, but I'm not as sure about dimensional travel."

[characterquarry]

"I really should clean this thing." She waves the 'broom' a bit, and it makes an obviously heavy-sounding clank. "And finish unloading my pistols. Is there a better place to do that than in the middle of a field?"

[maggie_of_the_owls]

"Hmmm...I suppose the machine shop would be a decent place."

[characterquarry]

"Sounds good. Most hangars resemble a machine shop more than anything, with the new steel-brooms becoming so popular. They're easier to fly and use our mana so much more efficiently than a stick with twigs, so the expense is worth it. Where to?"

[maggie_of_the_owls]

Cecil will lead her to the machine shop.

[characterquarry]

Where she disassembles the 'broom' into several dozen pieces, cleans and oils each one, and reassembles them. She also empties out and cleans her pistols, and seals the pot-bomb with putty.

Cecil will stand there waiting. He pulls out a book and starts reading it not very long into the process.
