One elf is starting to run out of time. The assassins plotting to kill her could show up any day now. She would really rather they didn't.

The irony doesn't escape her. She's still sending messages about her plans to sell off all of her lifespan and die to become a daeva with a lot of OTC currency. If she wanted, she could mint a ton of Ka, then let the assassins kill her. But the idea doesn't appeal. Some form of giving up, of letting them win. She's not often petty, but in this particular instance she thinks she'll indulge herself. Besides, it's not like they're the merciful type. She recalls Aisilian's perfect comprehensioned words. You were in quite a lot of pain...

No. No, she'll - not do that. She'll go spend a little while in Nexus.

She sends Miles a message.

So everything is packed and I have everything I need with me to flee my dimension before I get assassinated. Is now a good time?

"Oh no," Miles says dryly. "Faces. However will I cope."

"Build up an immunity by making faces at yourself in the mirror."

He giggles.

"Really though, I think making Esthfora sad is its own punishment. I mean. Then you would have a sad Esthfora, and that would be terrible."

"True. But I think I might make faces at you anyway, because making ridiculous faces is fun."

"True."

Inavet takes a thoughtful bite of her food.

"You know Gabriael hates her," she sighs, sounding Very Disappointed.

"Well, he's Gabriael. I probably shouldn't have expected anything different."

[poll_the_stars]

Snort.

"I mean, I can see his reasoning. Sort of. Perhaps 'hate' is the wrong word, he seemed to fear her more than hate her. Which I get. But, it's Gabriael, and he of course had to make an ass of himself before managing to get his point across."

"I don't know... on one level, it's reasonable to be afraid of anyone with that kind of power, but at the same time if you look at her actions I feel like it's clear she is pretty much as benign as she could possibly get."

"Right, I explained to him why I like her, and he took that better. Or. She now, I suppose. Uh, oops. Anyway. I suspect part of the problem is that Gabriael is antisocial as hell and has her head so far up her own ass that she can't see daylight, let alone someone's actions, more than the reasoning she is using. The reasoning of, 'I find someone affecting my mind terrifying' is sound. The. Gabriael element inherent here is not."

"Gabriael. Unsound reasoning. What an astonishing development that is."

"Try not to have a heart attack from the shock, I am only passable at blood craft."

Miles giggles.

"Though I would try my best," she declares loftily.

"You'd better, I still haven't summoned Cam for his last visit. And probably won't until after I come back from my trip."

"Far be it from me to deny you time with Cam." Pause. Blink, blink. "... Wait, trip?"

"Planned but not yet scheduled, I'm gating to a strange universe to pick up some strange magic that wants me to spend nine days in an empty building to get it. I mean to go as soon as I feel like I can spend nine days in an empty building without anything needing me urgently while I'm gone."

"Oh." Blink. "Have fun, don't explode, please share if it's awesome?"

"I have every intention of sharing it if it's awesome, but I get the impression it's not as easy to come by as, say, arcany. Most of my information is from Esthfora, though, so I don't have a lot of detail. I do know I'm not going to explode."

[poll_the_stars]

"Good, not exploding is the most important part. And thank you for the presumed sharing if it's awesome. Though - arcany isn't easy to come by if you aren't human or my type of elf. Aisilian asked me to figure out an arcany ritual for him and uh. That will be a nightmare."

"Yeah, I can imagine."

He glances at the kobold to try to assess whether she'd like him to bring up the prospect of giving her arcany. It's no longer quite as urgent as it was before she gained all that MP, and she doesn't seem keen on interacting with Inavet more than she has to.
