Witches aren't troubled by the cold, but the same isn't true about the wind.
Temperance wasn't afraid of falling from her brand new cloudpine branch, but she might drop her books and that was nearly as bad. She decided to land until the weather quieted down.
Instead of quieting it down, the weather got worse, snow started falling and it was hard to navigate even with Faramund covering her with his wings.
Temperance didn't hear anything, just saw a glimpse of the thing, just enough for her brain to register the combination of snake and mirror and...
...then she found herself under warm sunlight, feeling a gentle breeze over her skin. Blinking away the sudden light and the melting snow in her eyes, she found herself surrounded by a green woodland that was too warm to be anywhere near she remembered being.
In short, Temperance and her daemon were very confused.

Temperance grins

"I will go through the traditional exit," Temperance sasy "as long no one pushes me."

"No one's going to push you."

"You can already fly, you don't need to be treated like a baby bird. And Scotty was a special case."

"Hey, half of me is a bird," Temperance says pointing at Faramund.

"Unless he moonlights as your inner child, I think you still don't qualify."

"As her soul," Faramund says "I am pretty close to that you know."

This seems to surprise Temperance.

"Hey, I am just adjusting to the new world, don't blame me," Faramund says with a birdly shrug.

"Okay," Temperance says "I think we should just go and meet Sophie then."

Unless interrupted, Temperance will just leave via cloudpine, she will even use the traditional exit.

Emily follows, still snickering.
This is good, because unless Sophie sees them and decides to call out telepathically, Temperance isn't going to recognize her on her own.

Sophie, as Emily will undoubtedly explain, is a little hard to recognize from above anyway when the backdrop is grass. Because she is green.
She is over there, playing a game that does not involve making the laws of physics cry in a corner with some other students with less relevant mutations. Her skin is the color one thinks of when one thinks of deciduous leaves, and her hair is the color one thinks of when one thinks of evergreen needles.

Temperance is mildly surprised when Emily tells that side effect of Sophie's mutation, but is far less alarmed than the common base-line human usually is.

When they locate her, Temperance will simply land a few feet away and wave at Sophie, waiting until the girl decides to leave the game to talk to them.

Mild surprise is perfectly fine. It's not like she's seen anything like this before, although if she pokes around Edie's infodump a little she may notice that several other mutants--including the twins' aunt Raven, uncle Azazel and cousin Kurt--have similar physiological side effects.
Sophie peels off from the game fairly shortly. "Hi! You must be Temperance! Edie told me about you."

Edie's infodump is the gift that keeps on giving, what a interesting world.

"Temperance Lytess," She says with a courteous bow "You must be Sophie, I hope not to inconvenience you too much. Do you have any questions that Edie didn't cover?"

"Sophie Jackson," she said. "Um, not really? I'll probably think of some later, but most of the ones I'm thinking of now are probably not a good idea to actually ask."

Temperance tilts her head thinking of some of the obvious options.

"I am not easily offended," Temperance says with a shrug "the only reason I don't sit down to talk right now is because I need to do some errands."

"I mostly mean it wouldn't be a good idea because if I start asking questions I won't want to stop and you need to go and get some stuff and I shouldn't hold you up so I should ask them later. Nothing that's immediately important," Sophie clarified.

Well, with that they can just say a polite goodbye, give Temperance a moment to check what exactly they need to buy. A couple of things Temperance can even find in the wild with a simple divination, but they definitely need to pay for most of the list.

Is aconite one of the things Temperance can find? Because Emily doesn't actually know where to buy poisons.

You would be surprised how pretty some poisonous plants are! All those bright colors that scream "danger, don't eat me!" to most sensible species. And finding plants in the wild is a very basic witchy skill. They find aconite in the old ruins of a greenhouse, Temperance also picks a rare mushroom in the same place, but that one wasn't relevant to tonight's spell.

"Did I mentioned that Witchcraft also does protection magic?" Temperance comments when they are in the air again "Including protection against scrying or protection against magic, I am wondering how that would interact with mutant powers."

"I don't know that it would, but I don't know that it wouldn't. Do witches have any kind of teleporting spells?"

[mage_see_mage_do]

"Something like that," Temperance says "we can summon objects and substances, but it tends too complicated to be practical. We tend to reserve that to very specific objects and sometimes not even that. And Anything alive is exponentially more complicated," she pauses thinking for a moment "I might be able to create an anti-teleportation ward depending on how my magic interact with powers."

"I was just thinking that teleportation might be an easier thing to block. I mean, Mama and I, our powers work by magnetism. Magnetism is a definitely-not-magic thing. If there's any kind of magic going on there it's in us, not the metal we're moving. A lot of powers are like that."

"I don't know much about mortal science," Temperance says "but I know that magnetism is a force hard for witchcraft to control and it is actually easier to focus on the desired effect of moving metal than to think on the magnetism doing it."

"If technology is hard for you to do stuff with maybe it's some kind of aversion to electromagnetism in general? Is non-electric technology easier to work with?"

[mage_see_mage_do]

"The problem is that our magic doesn't know what to do with technology," Temperance explains "Even though living beings are much more complicated than most technology. Imagine that spells are basically instructions for magic to follow, and while magic knows what curing a poison would means, it doesn't understand... what putting a clock back together means unless I explain it more thoroughly."

"Is magic a thing that can know things? If witches try doing magic with technology long enough do you think it will get the hang of it?"
