"Interesting," says Saravasse. "How acquirable is this acquirable magic, exactly?"

"There are these candy things. You eat them and they give you twenty mana apiece and mana lets you operate a paricular kind of the weird weapons native to that universe."

[pythbox]

"So, not necessarily of any use to us," says Saravasse. "But interesting anyway. If you find any more acquirable magic that will support a Dragonbond, we'd like to hear about it."

[iamnotpolaris]

"Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem. Although I'm not sure how we'd be able to tell that it supported a Dragonbond unless someone else ended up stuck to them...which honestly wouldn't surprise me at this point."

[pythbox]

"Acquireable magics that won't support Dragonbonds would be less useful but by no means worthless," she says. "For that matter, has Tialle's Demon acquired this candy magic? What happened, if so?"

[iamnotpolaris]

"He was doing something else when Edie started eating the things, I think, and then--well, he got distracted."

[pythbox]

"Naturally," snorts Saravasse. "Well, if it turns out that more than one person Bonded to the same dragon can have the same magic affected by the Bond - and I suspect it will; I can't imagine it working any other way - consider me even more interested in new acquireable Dragonbond magics. And you'll have an easier time testing whether they work or not."

[iamnotpolaris]

"What exactly does a Dragonbond do? I think the only thing I know for sure is that if any other demon had gotten their hands on one everyone else would be doomed."

[pythbox]

"At least in this universe, all magic has a cost. Unless you have a Dragonbond," she says. "Our Bondmates can do magic without needing to fuel it in the usual way, whatever that happens to be."

[iamnotpolaris]

"Huh. I'll have to ask my sister how that ends up shaking out for her when I get back."

[pythbox]

Saravasse nods.

[iamnotpolaris]

"You know, I'm used to my life being surprising, but I have to admit, having my sister meet a guy and then end up--engaged in something considerably more binding than a marriage--in less than a day...I have to admit, it's kind of throwing me."

[pythbox]

Saravasse shrugs slightly, a fairly impressive gesture at that scale.

"I can see how it might be surprising, never having heard of dragons before."

[iamnotpolaris]

"I think I would be thinking more about that part if she hadn't already fallen in love with him first, to be honest. As it is, it sort of feels like she just eloped."

[pythbox]

"It's rare for Bonded to think of themselves as married. The species differences are... significant. But his situation is unusual in more than one way."

[iamnotpolaris]

"Oh, yes. You know, when we were younger, my sister used to go around insisting that she wasn't a normal example of anything. It does not surprise me that she managed to go off and have an abnormal Dragonbond, if she was going to have one."

[pythbox]

Snort.

"One wonders what strange thing she might do next."

[iamnotpolaris]

"Who knows.

"I feel like this information is probably relevant to Liselen, all things considered, but obviously I can't just walk up to him and start talking."

[pythbox]

"I'll keep him informed," says Saravasse.

[iamnotpolaris]

"Okay. How much longer are you likely to stay here? If you're leaving sooner than I can come back with answers to the various questions I'll probably just warp to the armband once you're back on the mainland."

[pythbox]

"At least a few hours, but not much more than that," she says.

[iamnotpolaris]

"Okay. If it takes longer than that I'll probably wait a few days, then."

[pythbox]

She nods.

"...You're taking this all really well."

[pythbox]

"Am I?" she asks, slightly amused.
