probably fine soon. He breathes a sigh of relief.

'help you?' he taps back. 'will be careful'

'stay here? careful? not much else' pause 'time'

'ok' he taps back, and then waits.

'i' she starts, then stops, shaking her head marginally.

She takes a breath, her face taking on a look of concentration, and then she is still and silent for a little while, steeling herself, before poking at her sense of self.

After a moment, her body language shifts to profound relief, and she reaches back over and taps out 'not infected'

'good', he taps. He winces at an unexpected scraping noise. 'leave off ears, was bettter for a bit, worse now, dont know why.'

Thorn considers for a moment, and then uses her not-currently-occupied arm to sort-of-hug his legs.

She makes a deeply unhappy face at the latter statement, but nods. 'should probably eyes too' she taps out unhappily.

Thoughtful pause. 'lights less bad when we moved? sound too?'

She isn't mad at him? He balances carefully to accept the hugs.

'yeah' he taps back. 'i should try move to stop? ok to move?'

Thorn sits there for a long moment, and then lets her hand drop away from her eyes, although she leaves them closed. She proceeds to use both hands to lever herself to her feet (avoiding falling in the process only by a fairly narrow margin), and feels for where she remembers him being.

She had some kind of night vision, he doesn't know if it's based on heat or movement or emotional aura. He moves his shoulders a little in case that helps, but otherwise holds still.

She has several kinds, actually; the problem is that she can only currently use her psi.

Still, she finds him with only minor fumbling. 'slow to start?'

After a moment, she adds, 'careful looking but different line kinds seem hexagon paths'

'ok' he taps back, 'path same outlines? What different hexagons?'

Pause. 'hexes outlined same kind lines. multiple overlapping with different kinds' pause. 'ow' pause. 'multiple paths with same kind hex'

He looks more carefully at the floor. There do seem to be multiple possible hexagons outlined by different sets of outline-patterns. Of the ones adjacent to the hexagon they are currently standing on, only one is completely outlined with the same pattern.

'next hex with same outline' he taps to Thorn, 'go to?'

'worth try' she taps back, nodding. She shifts her position to get a secure grip on his arm in preparation for movement, paying careful attention to his reaction.

He takes a cautious step onto the matching hexagon, moving slowly to let her keep up.

She trails him almost silently, noticing the vibration of the floor (which she has been doing her best to ignore) decrease as they move.

The flashing lights and noise become less awful as they move. When they both stand on the next hexagon, the floor stabilizes to blue, and the glowing beads at its vertices steady into a cycle from bright blue to medium blue - almost blending in with the hexagon - to blue-green.

There are three adjacent hexagons from here that are outlined in the same pattern.

Steve summarizes this to Thorn.

Thorn looks thoughtful. After a moment she taps back 'either other color match anything? dont want to experiment unless have to'

'def not' he taps back, then stops to think. 'maybe first one same as prev one?'

Thorn considers this for a moment, and then taps back: 'past present future?'

He looks at the pattern for a few seconds, then taps back 'maybe, how tell next?'

They discuss this for a while, and eliminate one tile as a possibility, but are unable to determine which of the remaining two is correct.

And, meanwhile, the room is getting more and more annoyed with their hesitation.

After a few minutes of slowly intensifying noise and lights without new progress, Steve taps 'noise getng worse, guess?'

'no progress' she agrees after a moment. 'not dealing with noise cant weigh right your opinion?'

As she taps this out, she thinks. She is reasonably certain he has been flinching at the lights and noise, not her, but, not completely (she does not know what to do at this point if it is her though). Well. She does not want to make things worse by trying to hug him if that is the case, but she can ask-- 'want hug?' she adds to the end.

He blinks a little, but taps back 'yes.' After a moment, 'will guess.'
