One elf is starting to run out of time. The assassins plotting to kill her could show up any day now. She would really rather they didn't.

The irony doesn't escape her. She's still sending messages about her plans to sell off all of her lifespan and die to become a daeva with a lot of OTC currency. If she wanted, she could mint a ton of Ka, then let the assassins kill her. But the idea doesn't appeal. Some form of giving up, of letting them win. She's not often petty, but in this particular instance she thinks she'll indulge herself. Besides, it's not like they're the merciful type. She recalls Aisilian's perfect comprehensioned words. You were in quite a lot of pain...

No. No, she'll - not do that. She'll go spend a little while in Nexus.

She sends Miles a message.

So everything is packed and I have everything I need with me to flee my dimension before I get assassinated. Is now a good time?

"Seriously though, I'm glad he isn't evil, he's terrifying."

"Eh. He's... well-intentioned," says Miles. "Needs to work on his people skills. As god-like beings go, Raezenoth and Esthfora remain my favourites."

"Agreed. Raezenoth wins by an impassioned speech, not that I don't like Esthfora, too. I am very happy about the mental protection."

"Raezenoth wins by several games of Plasma Rain, for me. Although I wonder if Esthfora would like Plasma Rain? It's very colourful..."

"You can always ask her if you'd like her to play you. But then, you might upset her when you are terrifying at Plasma Rain at her. Do you want to upset the nice rainbow truth goddess, Miles? Do you?"

"Good, I would make faces at you for it."

"Oh no," Miles says dryly. "Faces. However will I cope."

"Build up an immunity by making faces at yourself in the mirror."

He giggles.

"Really though, I think making Esthfora sad is its own punishment. I mean. Then you would have a sad Esthfora, and that would be terrible."

"True. But I think I might make faces at you anyway, because making ridiculous faces is fun."

"True."

Inavet takes a thoughtful bite of her food.

"You know Gabriael hates her," she sighs, sounding Very Disappointed.

"Well, he's Gabriael. I probably shouldn't have expected anything different."

Snort.

"I mean, I can see his reasoning. Sort of. Perhaps 'hate' is the wrong word, he seemed to fear her more than hate her. Which I get. But, it's Gabriael, and he of course had to make an ass of himself before managing to get his point across."

"I don't know... on one level, it's reasonable to be afraid of anyone with that kind of power, but at the same time if you look at her actions I feel like it's clear she is pretty much as benign as she could possibly get."

"Right, I explained to him why I like her, and he took that better. Or. She now, I suppose. Uh, oops. Anyway. I suspect part of the problem is that Gabriael is antisocial as hell and has her head so far up her own ass that she can't see daylight, let alone someone's actions, more than the reasoning she is using. The reasoning of, 'I find someone affecting my mind terrifying' is sound. The. Gabriael element inherent here is not."

"Gabriael. Unsound reasoning. What an astonishing development that is."
