The Party Had Just Begun

They spend the next couple of days just in Terraria, not exploring new worlds. Sivath builds the new house, with Emily's periodic assistance. Her sister and her sister's new Bonded...do not lack for ways to pass the time. At some point, Tialle's Demon gets around to eating a mana candy, and reports the same confused, undefined but large amount of mana. At some point after that, Emily gets around to warping over to Saravasse to report the information, and in the course of so doing meets some other dragons.

Eventually, the house is finished. It's glorious. Glass and marble and that peculiar, lovely Terrarian granite.

Emily: is not so quiet. "Ee, this is the best house and you are the best architect."

He smiles shyly. "I'm sure there are plenty of better architects out there."

"More skilled, maybe. Better? I don't believe so."

'She likes him,' Edie informs the demon. 'Not sure she's admitted it to herself yet, but she liiiikes him. Good thing they're so adorable.'

It's true, they are.

Emily shoots her sister a suspicious look.

Edie, not actually intending to tease her sister, refrains from putting on a conspicuous Innocent Look.

"It is a good house," the demon says approvingly. "I like this house."

"I'm glad," says Sivath.

[whatamithinking]

"I's a very good house. And now that it's done we can use it as a base for getting back to exploration."

Nod nod. "I wonder where we'll end up next," he says.

"Hopefully somewhere with civilization. As far as I can tell, 'no civilization' comes in 'boring' and 'bumps up my weekly overage of interesting even higher than it already is'."

"Which one of those does Terraria count as?"

[iamnotpolaris]

"Well, Terraria came first, so it only filled my weekly quota."

Edie starts adjusting the coordinates.

Sivath watches, because it's nice to know things about the travelling-between-worlds technology.

It is not very different from the last time he watched coordinates get adjusted, but he is welcome to watch if he likes.

And: wormhole. Once Emily has expanded the wormhole, Edie steps through, cocks her head, and nods. "Civilization," she reports. "Not right where the portal comes out, but nearish, and unless I desperately miss my guess, late twentieth to early twenty-first century."

"You can tell what year it is just by looking?"

[whatamithinking]

"Not always, but I can see buildings with indicative architecture from this angle." She waves in the relevant direction.

"So what do you do when you find civilization?"

[whatamithinking]

"Go there. Talk to people. Usually Emily'll make some little sculptures and stuff and we'll pawn them and buy things it's hard to get without civilization."

"Hmm. Okay."
