"Okay, thanks." She separates out a candy and munches on it. It is fizzy and minty, and she is abruptly aware, in that way Terraria has, that she has twenty mana. "...I didn't know you could carbonate candy. Maybe you can't outside Terraria. It's interesting, anyway." And she wanders over to the others to give them mana candy.

Edie accepts her ten.

Tialle's Demon will let Edie hold on to his ten for him, if that's all right with her. He needs both hands to hold this slime while he investigates its properties.

Sure.

Munch munch. Fizzy mint. Twenty mana.

...Is it just her, or is the dragon prettier than he was a minute ago? Huh. Maybe mana candies make things prettier. That's probably an arbitrary videogamey thing to have happen, it's not like she knows from video games, really.

Munch. Munch. Forty mana.

...He's just captivatingly pretty. She should probably look around to see what other things look like, now, but it's so hard to look away--and it's not like he wasn't the loveliest thing in her field of vision already.

Munch munch munch. Sixty mana.

She can look at his eyes instead of his scales! That is a thing she can look at. They are so green. She didn't know it was possible for anything to be that...green...

Oh hell there are no barriers between her mind and theirs she can't control it she could kill them oh she loves them so much she could render them braindead from it...

...Fucking shit this is why the Wild Magic wanted to warn them that two Dragonbonds to one dragon is possible how did the Wild Magic know she was going to eat this candy.

Well, that all makes perfect sense now, doesn't it.

Tialle's Demon lets the captive slime go so he can turn and hug Edie with more limbs. He is fine, they are fine, this is fine—is she all right?

(The dragon's mind is... very structurally fundamental to this Dragonbond. She is not harming him in the same unremarkable and obvious way that she does not harm a planet by standing on it.)

Oh...

This is all extremely unexpected and very intense and she is maybe a little bit terrified.

And...and...they are fucking amazing and she never has to let them go and it...disturbs her how much she wants that, she doesn't want to take options away from them, even options like "bugger off to do things that don't involve her at all." But there is a part of her mind that is glad that they literally can't (footsteps crunching on the sand and pain and no no I didn't want you to go) and she doesn't want to feel glad about that part. It is blatantly obvious from the way their mind works that making them not do things they weren't going to do anyway is a bad idea.

Aw.

It's all right. They love her. (So very much.) They loved her already, and the fact that they now love her with magic is fine. And it could be... troubling, if she were glad that they can never be parted (unless she dies), and only glad, and did not care what they thought of that - but she understands, and she cares, and she does not want to be glad, so that is okay too.

She loved them already too. If she hadn't loved them already she would be freaking out about this so much more.

...Does she love them more than Emily she doesn't want to love anyone else more than Emily...but she can't not want to love them this much. Well. She'll just...have to figure something out. Not right now. She doesn't need to worry about that right now. It's not like she loves her sister any less.

She loves them so much. So, so much.

...Okay, she needs to figure out how to not die, humans are extremely mortal and he was sad enough about Tialle dying and she had already been thinking that she needed to be more proactive about finding a way to circumvent mortality before dying would involve carving herself out of their brain with a spoon instead of just making them sad.

She is adjusting to this relatively quickly--it was a shock, it was like getting abruptly thrown in the ocean with no warning, but she's a telepath. She did already know how to swim.

Love. (and a background awareness that if anyone tries to hurt them in ways they do not want again she will not be happy and she will do things based on this unhappiness, because that is what her love is, a fire that warms those it is for and burns those it is against)

(it's confusing to think of loves as having relative strengths, but perhaps this is just his lack of experience with the subject)

(it's unpleasant to contemplate her death—they would not like it if she died, they would be unhappy—but they would survive it, and they would be okay; they are very good at being okay)

Well, she wants to not die for herself, too. (Although now if she died it wouldn't be as bad as before, in a way--writers and artists in times of old considered an epic work or a brilliant painting to be their immortality--how much more can one be said to live on in a true remembrance of the spirit, and not just an imperfect representation?)

And this is--nice. She loves them. And they love her. (It almost feels--presumptuous, to insert herself where for so many millenia they had been just the two of them, but it wasn't on purpose, and it's not like she can't feel that she is welcome.)

(sigh)

...She wants to just keep hugging him like this forever, right now, but she needs to talk to Emily (well. This does not require unhugging. Good). She isn't sure just how much her sister got of what just happened, but it's not plausible that the answer is nothing.

'I know you like to consider yourself 'not a normal example of anything,' but I think there's a limit on how surreal you're supposed to make my life in one day.'

'One, I don't think there is, two, it was an accident, three, how much of that did you catch?'

'...Enough to have a pretty good idea what just happened. And, uh, it's not just that. There's a sort of...' she mirror's Edie's own mental signature back at her. If you didn't have any idea what was going on and you had never encountered Edie's mind before it wouldn't necessarily have anything obviously weird about it, but...that sure is not just Edie in her own head anymore.

'Ah.'

'You--snuggle. And adjust. And stuff. I need to--process. By myself. I think.'

'Okay.'

...It's not exactly that love comes in amounts. But for a long time there was something that only Emily was to her, and that was someone with whom she could share her mind completely, and that all makes this whole thing Emily's concern.

That Edie isn't upset by this--in the long term, anyway, it was...certainly a surprise--isn't in question. That Emily will be okay in the long term too--isn't really a question either. Emily's flexible and resilient, and this isn't exactly something that's going to go away. But there's okay because she's okay and there's okay because she has to be and Edie really hopes it's the first one.

They will see. (He is nothing if not patient.) It will be good if everyone is okay without having to bring necessity into it.

In the meantime, snuggles.

Meanwhile: "Hey, Sivath," Emily says after wandering back over to where he is working on building-related activities. "Edie accidentally bonded to the dragon."

"...that's... quite an accident," he says. "Are they okay? What happened?"

"...Apparently she could after she ate the mana candies and she didn't know what was happening until it happened. I'm pretty sure they're okay, but it was...sure a surprise."

"It sounds very surprising," he says. "But as long as everyone's okay, right?"

"...Yeah."
