One elf is starting to run out of time. The assassins plotting to kill her could show up any day now. She would really rather they didn't.

The irony doesn't escape her. She's still sending messages about her plans to sell off all of her lifespan and die to become a daeva with a lot of OTC currency. If she wanted, she could mint a ton of Ka, then let the assassins kill her. But the idea doesn't appeal. Some form of giving up, of letting them win. She's not often petty, but in this particular instance she thinks she'll indulge herself. Besides, it's not like they're the merciful type. She recalls Aisilian's perfect comprehensioned words. You were in quite a lot of pain...

No. No, she'll - not do that. She'll go spend a little while in Nexus.

She sends Miles a message.

So everything is packed and I have everything I need with me to flee my dimension before I get assassinated. Is now a good time?

There's a thing about living in a society of people who don't talk - you get pretty good at reading moods, even if you're not particularly paying attention to them.

"I'm not in a rush," she says. "But we can come back tomorrow, too."

"Mm. Maybe," says Inavet, but the maybe sounds like an I would rather not.

She stands, brushing herself off. "But thank you, for this - it was nice."

She shrugs, and stands, nodding acknowledgement at the thanks, and then leads them back.

Kobolds see well in the dark, but she's still going to stick to the paths she knows best, for this trip, which takes them past a largeish clearing with a big flat rock in it perhaps ten minutes' walk from the house.

Inavet has no trouble in the dark, either. But she seems pensive. She wasn't exactly talkative, before, but she's definitely internalizing more.

And now here they are back at the house.

Hmm. No, she thinks not.

"Tell Miles I had fun," she says, and then she disappears up to her room to try and tackle why seeing a sunset hurt.

Sure, she's amenable to that.

"The elf said to tell you they had fun," she relates, once she's settled in for scritches. "I'm not quite sure that's the truth, but it went well."

Scritches.

"That's good," says Miles.

Nod.

"Anything interesting happen here while we were gone?"

"Happily, no."

She chuckles, and leans on him.

Well, he likes to think he's all right.

The continuing state of non-disaster in the house has freed him up to think about his upcoming taieli trip some more. It's inconvenient that Aisilian is still somewhat busy, but Miles asked Esthfora a few questions instead. So he knows that the event will take nine days, that he doesn't need to bring food but it won't hurt anything if he does, and that the planet he'll be visiting is frozen and airless but the monument will make sure he's comfortable. He didn't quite ask if the monument contains a lavatory, but nevertheless received the strong impression that making sure he's comfortable covers that too.

All that's left is to assure himself that he can leave this house for nine days and find it disaster-free when he returns.

Well, the spontaneously appearing message is probably not going to help with that. Especially given that it is appearing in Aisilian's charecteristic thematic, of vine-like cracks in reality hovering before him as he prepares for bed.

"Ugh," mutters Miles. "That's my universe you're scribbling on."

But he goes downstairs and gets a wish spellbook and sends it to Meletiti Entelecheiai using minor planar ally.

The scribbles make an apologetic bow, tracing out the vague shape of a person for a instant, before vanishing.

Trade accepted.

Miles tries sleeping again. This time he is uninterrupted by extradimensional visitors.

The next morning, he does not find the kobold waiting outside his room for him.

Instead she's in the kitchen, as usual, making scrambled eggs to go with the leftover hash browns.
