One elf is starting to run out of time. The assassins plotting to kill her could show up any day now. She would really rather they didn't.

The irony doesn't escape her. She's still sending messages about her plans to sell off all of her lifespan and die to become a daeva with a lot of OTC currency. If she wanted, she could mint a ton of Ka, then let the assassins kill her. But the idea doesn't appeal. Some form of giving up, of letting them win. She's not often petty, but in this particular instance she thinks she'll indulge herself. Besides, it's not like they're the merciful type. She recalls Aisilian's perfect comprehensioned words. You were in quite a lot of pain...

No. No, she'll - not do that. She'll go spend a little while in Nexus.

She sends Miles a message.

So everything is packed and I have everything I need with me to flee my dimension before I get assassinated. Is now a good time?

Inavet smiles a little, and then goes back to eating her pancakes.

She is content to not talk until the meal is concluded. Less chance to freak the kobold out that way, she thinks. She saw the freeze, earlier, and feels sort of vaguely guilty for it.

Miles finishes eating and helps put away the various things, and then heads for Plasma Rain.

The kobold follows, settling into a chair that will let her keep an eye on Miles and Inavet without being too close to them.

Inavet resigns herself to getting her ass kicked at Plasma Rain.

She's noticeably improved, though. Improved reflexes will do that.

Miles finds this activity moderately cheering! He begins to look noticeably less depressed.

Good, good. That is the point of this. Miles should be much less depressed.

She starts cursing in Elvish after the sixth game.

(She does not like losing.)

Well, that sentence roughly meant 'inbred moose-fucker' (aimed towards the game, not Miles), and that one was something about the creator of the game doing something anatomically impossible and likely not especially fun.

"Are you sure you're not demeaning perfectly respectable moose by associating them with something that annoys you so much?" inquires Miles.

(This is pretty normal, for someone playing Plasma Rain against Miles. Carry on, then.)

"Have you met a moose? They're the meanest animals I have ever encountered, even after domestication. I'm not demeaning them at all."

Miles snickers.

"I do not recommend the moose rides at Facet carnivals, by the way. They bite."

"I will take that under advisement. I do not want to be bitten by a moose."

[poll_the_stars]

"If you did, I would worry for your personal safety."

(She loses at Plasma Rain again. This time she just glares at the Game Over screen like it has personally offended her.)

"Okay," says Miles, "I think I have tormented you enough. Thank you."

"You're welcome."

... She sort of wants to hug him. She considers the logistics of this, then holds out her arms in the universal offer of 'hug.'

Miles hugs her. Miles appreciates his secret elf friend very much.

Aw.

(Augh.)

The secret elf friend is very glad Miles is feeling better! She did not want to upset Miles with her presence. Or upset anyone with her presence, actually.

"Well," she says, when there has been enough hug, "Now that I have been thoroughly trounced, I believe I'll go raid your library, if you don't mind."

"Fine by me."

She smiles a bit, then waves goodbye to Miles, nods a farewell to the kobold, and departs to raid the library.

(And stop freaking out the kobold.)

The kobold's lack of response is less a freeze and more an 'I have no idea what to do with this', this time.

Miles sighs. But it is somewhat less despondent than yesterday's sighs.

Well, that's a good sigh as sighs go, but she's obviously still missing something if he's sighing at all. Does his body language hold any clues?
