"Hello, Saravasse," Edie says when they have landed. "It occurred to me that I should probably give you the means of getting in touch with us sooner rather than later, lest something unexpected cause us to forget."

"Reasonable," says Saravasse. "If only the Wild Magic had thought to send someone with hands on this trip."

"I could probably tie it to one of your limbs or something, if that wouldn't be too uncomfortable."

[pythbox]

"That would be acceptable," says Saravasse.

[whatamithinking]

"Do you have a preference which one?" she asks as she rummages around in her bag for a spare armband and some rope. "Oh, I should probably leave written instructions on how to use it, too, just in case."

[pythbox]

Saravasse peers curiously at the bag, distracted from the question by its interesting properties.

[whatamithinking]

"Oh. This is my bag. It's magic. It carries more stuff than it ought to be able to."

[pythbox]

"I see," says Saravasse. "That's useful."

[whatamithinking]

"It really is." She pulls out the armband and some rope. "Where on which limb did you want it tied so it doesn't get in your way much?"

Saravasse extends her right foreclaw towards Edie. "If you tie it around my wrist it shouldn't be too troublesome."

"Fashionable," says the purple dragon.

Saravasse snorts.

"Hi, I have no idea whether we've technically met or not," Edie says to the purple dragon, buckling the straps on the armband closed and threading the rope through them.

He shrugs. "We certainly have now."

"True enough!"
She ties the armband to Saravasse's wrist. "Seems like a bit of a shame I don't know macrame. Oh, that's a system of knot tying that people sometimes use to make bracelets out of string."

"I think I will be just fine without a pretty bracelet," says Saravasse, amused.

"Mh-hm."

"Okay, so I should probably--write down how to use it, and then tape it to the underside or something. If I tell you how to operate it can you remember it well enough to tell someone with correctly-sized digits later?"

"I'll do my best," she says.

[whatamithinking]

She describes the operation of the device to create a wormhole to one of the other armbands. "And you'll want ARWRM1 or ARWRM2, otherwise you'll just get either yourself or the inside of my bag."

Snort. "Which would hardly do anyone any good, yes."

[whatamithinking]

"Exactly."

"...Come to think of it we should probably be giving armbands to Sivath and Tialle's Demon. We've been traveling by ourselves long enough I suppose the idea never occurred to us."

[endragoned]

"It seems a useful thing to have," says Tialle's Demon agreeably.

[whatamithinking]

"We don't have a huge number of spares, and we prefer to have a few on hand for in case anything happens to the ones we're wearing...I guess we'll have to go back to the world we got them from and get some more."

"Oh, my sister's reminding me that we forgot to give you an armband," Emily tells Sivath a little sheepishly.

Sivath shrugs and smiles.

"It will not be difficult to return there, I hope?"

"Oh, no, we've got markers in every universe we've visited, just in case. That's what the strings of seemingly-random numbers and letters represent. Those are cheap and easy, it's the wormhole generation that takes up most of the armband. The reason we're having a hard time getting home is that we haven't been there since we got the armbands in the first place."
